Dr. Raj Vuppalanchi is a tenured Professor of Medicine and holds the position of Director of Hepatology at Indiana University School of Medicine, Indianapolis.

His research primarily revolves around patient-centered approaches in the field of hepatic safety of pharmaceuticals, as well as herbal and dietary supplements with a specific focus on advancing innovative therapies for conditions such as metabolic dysfunction-associated steatohepatitis (MASH), cholestatic and autoimmune liver diseases (including PSC, PBC, and AIH), and cirrhosis

He is a clinical trialist and currently the global PI for Saroglitazar PBC program. His work in transient elastography and MRCP+ is foundational.
